In 1996, Annette Snyder began The Employment Source as a traditional placement agency, providing leased or temporary employees for primarily administrative and light industrial positions throughout the Quad Cities area. With a desire to set herself apart from other agencies, Annette spent the time getting to know the culture and personalities of her clients and put forth the effort to thoroughly prescreen her employees, ensuring the perfect job fit and long-term satisfaction for both the company and the employee. Her success in matching the employee to the client solidified The Employment Source’s reputation as a reliable, professional provider offering quality customer service and a keen eye for business.
As the business continued to grow, Annette began to see the need for a wider variety of long-term solutions for her clients. From workforce management and employment regulation compliance to a full range of business management and human resource services, what her clients needed was advice and guidance from a qualified HR professional to successfully navigate the risk and liability of being an employer.
In order to meet her clients’ HR needs, Annette obtained her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) national certification and learned what the concept of “Human Resource Management” truly means. The next step in expanding The Employment Source was to locate and hire other HR professionals who not only possessed the necessary talent and expertise, but who also shared the desire to maintain enduring relationships with their clients.
In business for over 20 years, The Employment Source serves as a fully functional HR consulting firm, with clients throughout the Midwest of all sizes and industries. The Employment Source does not provide legal services; as we say, “We don’t give legal advice. We give very good advice.”

As President, Annette Snyder has successfully owned and operated The Employment Source since 1996, With a head for business and a keen sense of how to best serve the unique needs of each client, Annette has grown The Employment Source from a local traditional placement agency into the full-service consulting firm of today. Annette maintains national certification as a professional in human resources (PHR), as well as membership in the national Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). Annette also serves Scott County as a General Mediator, trained and certified by the Iowa Association of Mediators, and has received intensive investigative training designed for law enforcement and security professionals. Annette has the talent of effectively “reading” people to cut through the deception and get to the truth. Through the years, Annette has earned the trust of her clients, demonstrated by her expanding business through word-of-mouth and client referrals.
Afton Myers rejoined Employment Source in August 2014 as our Placement Specialist. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, and significant customer service work history, she offers discerning, professional people skills. Afton provides clients with a thorough picture of candidates and their job fit for the position, leading to a mutually beneficial working relationship for both employer and employee. She conducts our pre-employment screening services including: reference verifications, criminal background investigations and drug screens, computer skills testing, and online profile assessments for our temporary, temp-to-hire, and direct hire placement candidates.
Additionally, she has accepted the challenge of increasing HR responsibilities, including creating and updating Employee Handbooks.
